The Collections Window showing the Artifacts tab

The second tab accessible in the Collections Window shows the list of Artifacts currently available in the game.

You can toggle between Collections and Artifacts by using the Green Signs at the top of the Collections Window (under your Wish List)

Artifacts are created by combining sets of 5 already combined Collections into a whole brand new item.

When activated, Artifacts work similarly to Talismans, but usually last much longer (typically 24 hours) and have a greater effect than their Talisman counterpart.

Combining ArtifactsEdit

Artifacts can be combined in the Artifacts tab of the Collections Window of the game.

Combining Artifacts works in the exact same way as combining Collections in the game. The difference is that instead of finding and combining 5 different Collection items in order to make a collection, players are making and combining 5 different Collections in order to make an Artifact.

In order to combine an Artifact, players must first combine 1 each of 5 different Collections that make up the Artifact. The collections needed to create each Artifact are listed next to the Artifact in the Artifact tab of the Collections window and are given in the List of Artifacts section below.

The act of combining the Artifact will use up one of each of those combined Collections in the players Inventory, in the same way that combining a Collection will use up one of each of the 5 items for that Collection in the players inventory. This means that the total number combined that appears in the collections tab for those Collections will go down by 1 after the Artifact is created. If you have only 1 of that Collection to begin with, then that Collection will appear as an uncombined Collection again in the Collections tab, and the blue completed banner will disappear.

Artifacts page 1 of 3

The Golden Chicken Artifact is nearly ready to combine

In the picture to the right, the player currently has 1 'Basket of Food' (from combining the 'Basket of Food' collection 1 time);  1 'Napkin Holder' (from combining the 'Silverware' collection 1 time); 3 'Layer Cakes' (from combining the 'Tasty Baked Goods' collection 3 times) and 28 'Tea Sets' (from combining the 'Tea Set' collection 2 times). They do not have any 'Bowl of Cookies' (from combining the 'Bowl of Cookies' Collection).

Once the player finds the items for the Bowl of Cookies Collection and combines it to create a Bowl of Cookies, they will be able to combine the Golden Chicken Artifact. They will also need 3x Chains, 4x Silk Ribbons, 4x Lace Ribbons and 4x Cobwebs to use as Fixers (combining elements) to combine the Artifact.

Once they combine this new Golden Chicken, the number of combined 'Tasty Baked Goods' Collections in the Collections tab will reduce from 3 to 2, the number of 'Tea Set' Collections will reduce from 28 to 27 and the 'Basket of Food';  'Bowl of Cookies' and 'Silverware' Collections will go back to appearing to be uncombined as the only 'Basket of Food';  'Bowl of Cookies' and 'Napkin Holder' created will be used in making the Golden Chicken.

You may combine more than one of each Artifact at a time. They will stay in the Talisman tab of your Inventory until they are used. As you use the Artifacts, the number completed will reduce both in the Talisman tab of the Inventory Window and in the Artifacts tab of the Collections Window from 4 to 3 and then from 3 to 2 etc. If the player uses all of one kind of Artifact in their inventory, then that Artifact will look uncombined in the Artifacts tab of the Collections Window again, and the blue completed banner would disappear from the Artifact's entry. It would go back to looking like the Artifact was never combined, like the Golden Chicken Artifact above it in the picture. The Artifact would also disappear from the Talisman tab in the Inventory when all of that Artifact has been used.

Using ArtifactsEdit

Artifacts are combined using the Collections Window, but they are activated in the Inventory Window of the game. Artifacts are like Talismans, but typically they last longer (typically 24 hours) and give much bigger rewards. Artifacts can be made by combining completed collections using their own set of Fixers (combining elements). Each Artifact requires 5 completed Collections, and a set number of Fixers to combine.

Artifacts can be combined in the Artifacts tab of the Collections Window of the game. To activate an Artifact you have already combined, go the Talismans tab of the Inventory, and scroll until you find the Artifact you wish to activate. Press the image of the Artifact to bring up an information box describing what it does. Press the green 'Use' button to activate the Artifact. If you do not want to activate the Artifact at that time, you can press the red 'Cancel' button or the brown 'X' to exit the information box without activating the Artifact.

Once an Artifact is activated, a new bubble icon will appear on the right hand side of the Darkwood Town Map for it (where Talismans and other Boosters are also shown). This bubble contains an image of the Artifact, and beneath the image there is a count down timer. You can tap on this bubble at any time to bring up an information box about the Artifact that gives information about the Artifact and how much time remains before it expires.

As soon as the Artifact is activated, the timer will start counting down. The Timer runs continuously, even when the game is not in use, so a 24 hour Artifact will exipire exactly 24 hours after it is activated. Once the timer runs out, the Artifact will expire and the bubble will disappear from the Darkwood Town Map. You may be given the option to activate another Artifact or a Talisman with the same effect.

You can only activate one of a particular Artifact at one time, but you can activate multiple Artifacts at the same time as long as they have different functions. While an Artifact is activated, you also cannot use a Talisman that has the same function. For example, if you are using the Valuable Pyramid Artifact (increases chance of winning Collection Items and Fixers while playing), you cannot use any other Luck Talismans such as the Eagle Eye. But you can use other Artifacts and Talismans that have a different function. The only exception to this rule is the special Guardian of Time Talisman. The Guardian of Time Talisman can be used at the same time as another Talisman or Artifact that has the same function. For example, the Guardian of Time increases the chances of receiving Collection Items and Fixers by 10% while playing for 10 days, but you can still use the Valuable Pyramid Artifact or Eagle Eye Talisman during those 10 days, so you can have a Guardian of Time and a Valuable Pyramid or a Guardian of Time and an Eagle Eye (or other Luck Talisman) running at the same time, just not a Valuable Pyramid and an Eagle Eye (or other Luck Talisman) at the same time.

As of the 1.17.0 Update, there are 11 Artifacts in the game, each with a different function:

  • Golden Chicken: increases the rate of Energy recovery by 10 times for 24 hours (so Energy will increase by 1 point every 18 seconds instead of every 3 minutes for 24 hours) and restores max energy.
  • Midas Touch: increases coins earned by winning a Hidden Object or Puzzle game by 50% for 24 hours (1day).
  • Forged Mask: increases the chances of winning Diagrams and Winding Keys while winning a Hidden Object or Puzzle game by 50% for 24 hours (1 day).
  • Looking into Future: increases the chances of winning the Rune, Flask, and Flower reagents needed to Craft items while winning a Hidden Object or Puzzle game by 50% for 24 hours (1 day).
  • Valuable Pyramid: increases the chances of winning Collection Items and Fixers needed to combine Collections while winning a Hidden Object or Puzzle game by 50% for 24 hours (1 day).
  • Detective of Genius: increases the chances of winning Tools while winning a Hidden Object or Puzzle game by 10% for 24 hours (1 day).
  • Great Captain: increases the chances of winning Collection Items and Fixers by 50% for 72 hours (3 days).
  • Ghost Buster: increases the chances of winning Collection Items and Fixers by 55% for 72 hours (3 days).
  • Christmas Wonder: increases the chances of winning Collections Items and increases Experience by 60% for 72 hours (3 days).
  • Merchant's Talisman: increases the chances of winning Collection Items and increases Experience by 65% for 72 hours (3 days).
  • Merchant's Gargoyle: increases the chances of winning Collection Items and Fixers by 60% for 72 hours (3 days).

Collections Needed To Combine ArtifactsEdit

Artifacts are created by combining the final pieces of 5 particular Collections together. This is done in the same way that collection items are combined to create the collections themselves.

To create an Artifact, a player must have previously combined one of each of 5 different collections that create that Artifact. The act of creating that Artifact will use up 1 of each of those combined collections, and reduce the number of completed collections displayed for those collections in the Collections Tab, the same way that combining a collection will use up 1 of each of the 5 items required for that collection.

In the Artifacts tab, it is the item created when you combine a Collection that is listed as needed to combine the Artifact, not the Collection itself. For many Collections in the game, the item created when you combine them has the same name as the Collection itself, but in some cases the item created has a different name than the Collection. In these cases, the name is collection is listed in brackets after the item name to make it easier to identify the Collection in the Collections tab as well as in the List of Collections; List of Collection Items; and List of Collection Item Locations pages here.

Below is the list of collections currently needed to create the Artifacts in the game.

Fixers Needed To Combine ArtifactsEdit

Players must combine a number of collections and use special Artifact Fixers in order to create the brand new item, the Artifact.

To create an Artifact, a player must have previously combined one of each of 5 different collections yielding the final 5 pieces needed to create that Artifact, as well as the right amount of each required Fixer. The act of creating that Artifact will use up 1 of each of those collections, and reduce the number of completed collections displayed for those collections in the Collections Tab, the same way that combining a collection will use up 1 of each of the 5 items required for that collection. It will also reduce the number of Fixers in the Inventory by the amount needed to create the Artifact.

You need Fixers to combine both Collections and Artifacts. These are the combining elements that are used to combine the 5 items in order to create the new item. Artifacts have their own unique set of 4 Fixers that must be used to combine them - such as the Chain; Silk Ribbon; Lace Ribbon; and Cobweb for the original 6 Artifacts.

There are a number of different ways to get Artifact Fixers in the game:

  1. Artifact Fixers can potentially be won as rewards when you interact with Anomalies in the game (either Dispel or play. Whenever a Hidden Object Location has an Anomaly, the Artifact Fixers are added to the 'You Can Find' list in the Explore Window for that Location. This means that the Artifact Fixers are added to the pool of items you can potentially win for that play of the Location.
  2. Artifact Fixers for the Great Captain and Merchant's Talisman Artifacts can potentially be won as rewards for successfully exploraing the Ship and Old Square locations respectively.
  3. Artifact Fixers for the Ghost Buster and Christmas Wonder Artifacts can only be found by purchasing an event chest from the Store .
  4. Artifact Fixers are also given as additional rewards for combining every Collections in the game. Each Collection has its own set of rewards that are listed in the Collections tab beside the Collections name. In addition to these set rewards, you are also rewarded with a number of Coins and a random Artifact Fixer every time you combine a Collection for the first time. The Artifact Fixer that is given each time is decided at random.
  5. All Artifact Fixers can be gifted between Friends. You can add Artifact Fixers to your Wish List the same way you add any Fixer - by tapping on the Fixer box for an Artifact to bring up the bigger information window for the Fixers and tapping on the green plus sign next to the Fixer you want to add to your Wish List. Please Note: Some Artifact Fixers can be given as Free Gifts between Friends - this means they do not come out of the senders Inventory but you can only send one Free Gift to each Friend each day. You cannot send these Free Gift Fixers as Inventory gifts, even if you have many in your Inventory. Other Artifact Fixers are not Free Gifts - this means that although you can still send them to your Friends, they will come out of your own Inventory. You can send up to 10 Inventory items each day to any Friend you want (i.e. you can send 10 to one Friend or one each to 10 different Friends or anything in between). This means that some Fixers are Free Gifts (do not come out of your Inventory) but you are restricted to only sending one to each Friend each day and other Artifact Fixers are Inventory Gifts (do come out of your Inventory) but you can send more than one or more than one type to one Friend from your 10 Inventory item limit for the day.
